PLAZA and the Palestinian Enterprise Revitalization Project (ENASH) Sign Cooperation Agreement to provide PLAZA Tenants with Business Support Services
(May 21 - Al-Bireh, Palestine) – The Arab Palestinian Shopping Centers P.L.C. (PSE: PLAZA) and JAWWAL, the Palestinian Cellular Communications Company, today signed a first-of-its-kind branding agreement in Palestine that will utilize the JAWWAL brand in the naming of the indoor children play area located at its first PLAZA Shopping Center in Al-Bireh.
The PLAZA Shopping Center has announced its grand opening for July 1. This much anticipated opening will introduce to the Palestinian market the first full scale modern retail shopping facility. The two anchor stores in PLAZA are a full-size supermarket and a 620 sqm indoor children play area, both which are owned and operated by PLAZA. With the JAWWAL branding agreement, the children area will be called “JAWWAL Land.” PLAZA Shopping Center will maintain full responsibility for the operations of the play area.
General Manager of PLAZA Shopping Centers, Mr. Sam Bahour, enthusiastically welcomed the opportunity for strategic marketing cooperation between PLAZA and JAWWAL. Mr. Bahour stated, “Strategic and serious cross-sector business cooperation in our market is not an everyday occurrence. Nonetheless, with the launch of JAWWAL Land, and by setting an example of branding cooperation with our partners in JAWWAL, we see the door opening for many more opportunities for other local Palestinian firms to benefit from the significant investment that has been made during these difficult economic times to create our first of five modern shopping facilities.”
JAWWAL’s CEO, Mr. Hakam Kanafani, equally welcomed the opportunity and stated, “the branding of Jawwal on the children play area of the PLAZA Shopping Center falls into Jawwal’s national social support plans for this year, which comprises of sponsoring and branding youth activities, given the youth are the largest sector of the Palestinian society and are facing serious problems due to the on-going Israeli occupation and difficult economic conditions that our whole society is facing.” Mr. Kanafani also called upon all Palestinian companies to follow Jawwal’s lead in supporting the local communities by cooperating with those organizations that are working in this field.
JAWWAL will also sponsor the launch of JAWWAL Land which will comprise of four major children activities which will be open to the public and be held on the first floor of the PLAZA Shopping Center in Al-Bireh.
